March 31, 2021 EDIT/UPDATE: The good stuff hasn't changed. Sonically, the detail is superb, good enough for me to hear a detail I've never heard before in my favorite old songs. To my untrained ear they don't sound dirty, shrill or harsh. They are really bud friendly. If you get it right, they seal really well, so their noise-cancellation is decent and the bass comes through. But in my average car with an average cabin noise level, the noise reduction is negligible. You can crank up the volume, but due to bumps and other things, they can't stay closed as tightly, so some of the bass is lost. I noticed earlier that my right battery wasn't fully charged, but today it was, and according to the Melomania app, it was falling at the same rate as the left. Maybe the batteries need time to break in, or maybe the earphones fit better in a charging case. I still have to play around with it to get a steady slow blinking red to indicate it's charging. But even if the right one shows less charge at first, both often equalize when discharging because the left one discharges faster. So it's just weird. I use aptX and the high performance mode but they still seem to be good for at least 5-6 hours when both have a high initial charge. Incidentally, Raycon (see below) processed my return with ease and even gave me a paid shipping label, which I appreciate. March 28, 2021 I'm not an audiophile or music playback expert, but I've tried different headphones. Obviously, on-ear headphones should offer the best and most consistent noise cancellation. My old Bose noise canceling phones did their job very well and was my general benchmark. I find these Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch headphones sound better, fit very well and are quite comfortable. I wear them for hours, every day. Before I bought them I tried Raycon Performers. They sounded good but were very buggy. Also, they don't stay safe in my ears when I'm active. I got bored very quickly and looked for alternatives. I don't think I had time to fully incorporate them before I got bored. But Raycon has a 45-day no-questions-asked return policy and that's a big part of the reason I tried them in the first place. Bugs and installation issues aside, I liked them and probably would have kept them. With this experience behind me, I started looking again and kept sorting through the alternatives. After a while, CAs became the most compelling choice. I was concerned that the "touch" controls would hurt, and at first they did. But I'm learning and it's getting a lot better. My advice: use a firm, conscious touch rather than a quick touch. It takes several hours to crack them. They sounded a bit flat at first. While fiddling with mounting caps and outer bands, I tracked down the sound I was looking for and fiddled with the EQ settings in the app, which loaded flawlessly and worked very well. I got them to plug my ears right which you MUST get right for the right sound. And, holy smoke, healthy! The detail is outstanding. They don't sound harsh or muddy. I like a tight, powerful base and they can convey that. I raised the middle floor and lowered the bottom one to find my happy spot. There's a lot of overhead for those who prefer a stronger deep base than I do. In short, I love her. Anything that sounds better should be really impressive. However, I encountered a few technical problems. The right earphone never charges above 95%, often much less, and discharges faster, at least according to the app. So that's the limiting factor for game time, which is still pretty long. Also, they go silent from time to time but are still connected. I disconnect and reconnect in phone settings and they keep coming back.
