I have an 8.5 lb cat (household shorthair) and ordered a medium size but it was: 1) too big for me, would probably have been small should order; 2) The collar has no rough or sharp surfaces, but from the moment I put it on her, she kept scratching her neck; 3) The beads are a bit big so two strands might make this too heavy and unwieldy for her because I've noticed she has a hard time grooming her shoulders and back. As beautiful as this collar is I will have to return it for a refund. If the bead was smaller it would work. That's why I think a collar is better for a dog than a cat (unless your cat is bigger than mine).
