Garbage Company backend, not setting up available lightbulbs without a headache

UPDATE 2. Not only do they go unresponsive from time to time, they just die at an unacceptably short rate. The lamp I bought 2 months ago died. It didn't stop responding because at that time I could still use it as a lightbulb, it didn't emit any more light. AVOID THIS. Spend a few extra dollars to get lamps from a reputable company. UPDATE: Those bulbs are annoying and server outages are unacceptable for your home lighting. After an update everything shut down and I had to completely redo all the subroutines and everything "smart" in them. Unacceptable. Like you, I saw these bulbs that cost less than $10 for a custom white bulb and decided to save a few bucks and buy them. I had a similar bulb from Eufy (anchor, I think, a trusted brand) that I was very happy with, but it would have been expensive to get more. Set up was easy as you just screw them in and add them one by one via the Wyze app and discover them via the Alexa app. After that I thought that was it, but they kept turning on. After some searching, this seems to be a fairly common problem with this brand. The solutions I found finally worked and I have no more problems. Here they are: - Set separate names for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands in your Wi-Fi router settings and only use 2.4GHz for devices that absolutely need it ( e.g. these lightbulbs). - Set the 2.4GHz channel bandwidth to 20MHz and turn off "Protected Control Features". So far they have worked for my setup. I've also seen tiny power fluctuations cause similar problems in other people. So if you live in old cables, this can cause problems. I would recommend if you know how to fix some problems like this, but if it's not worth the time for you it could cost you a few bucks more per bulb!

Pros
  • Make it look like someone's home: Vacation mode turns the lights on and off on a variable schedule while you're away.
Cons
  • Available in black only.
