So the SSD part might be solid, but the drive isn't. As I found out online this connector on the back of the drive fell off rendering the drive unusable. With very little hassle, SanDisk offered the device for an RMA (which probably means they know it's a serious problem), which would normally be fine if I wasn't actually using it for anything. But since the sole purpose of buying a solid SSD was to store photos and other important memorabilia, I care more about the data than the drive itself. SanDisk only offered third-party data recovery options to preserve the data at my expense, which is a lot cost more than the drive itself. Unlike the Extreme 500, SanDisk won't let me disassemble it to remove data from it and still honor the warranty.
