Files keep disappearing

My files keep disappearing from this thing! Every time I connect it to my computer I get a message that the hard drive is corrupt and all of a sudden I can't edit or add new files on the hard drive. I've reformatted this drive at least three times! I'm so sick of dealing with this!

Universal solid-state hi-fi system.

I bought a 480GB SanDisk Extreme 510 Portable SSD to test my current Spinning HDD to SSD migration program for my Hi-Fi system. It is connected to a MacMini and a PrismSound DAC with amplifiers and speakers. With an SSD, I can play at different bitrates and sampling rates. With the right software, I can store and play FLAC (lossless) compressed files that expand on the fly, allowing me to store a lot more music on an SSD. With multiple SanDisc SSDs, I can use the portable SSD in plug-n-play…

Disintegrating while storing data

So the SSD part might be solid, but the drive isn't. As I found out online this connector on the back of the drive fell off rendering the drive unusable. With very little hassle, SanDisk offered the device for an RMA (which probably means they know it's a serious problem), which would normally be fine if I wasn't actually using it for anything. But since the sole purpose of buying a solid SSD was to store photos and other important memorabilia, I care more about the data than the drive itself…

I've been using it for a month now and it works perfectly - super thin and light, with high performance

This is a new model that SanDisk announced to strengthen the connector socket. I've been using it for a month now and it works flawlessly - super thin and light with great performance. I was initially suspicious of this product as I bought two of these last year (model 500) and the port that the USB plug goes into both broke within a few weeks. This new 510 seems much stronger so far.

Great design but turns off with a slight movement

There is an issue with the plug where even the slightest movement will turn off the device. The connector is poorly secured and dangles like a loose tooth. I will try to get my money back if the warranty allows it.

Fast, compact, durable, lots of GB. Seriously - just buy one. You will not regret it!

I just love this boy! I've been using it for almost a year now and it really is without a doubt the best external storage I've ever had. I take it everywhere, it's fast, it's small, it fits in your pocket, it has a good amount of data, and did I mention it's FAST? man, that's fast.
