Review on Eton Executive Aircraft Shortwave Leather by Tyler Blake

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Eton Elite Executive failed after a day UPDATED 18 August 2019

I am an avid shortwave listener with 1/2 dozen different radios. I wanted a direct frequency input laptop and the Eton Elite Executive seemed like a good choice. The radio came quickly, the packaging is in good condition. The receiver is quite sensitive and all the front panel options worked as they should. However, after just a day of responsible adult use, the button to select fast/slow/fine tuning steps stopped working. I could clearly feel and hear the mechanical detent when the knob was depressed rather than clicked to select tuning speed. Apart from this mechanical problem, the radio worked quite well. Two stars for the radio but more than 5 stars for Revain and their excellent replacement/refund policy and processes. I hope that replacing the radio will not cause any problems. If so, I'll definitely look into it. UPDATE!: The replacement radio arrived as promised by Prime. The new one works 100% as advertised. The tune speed selector on the replacement "seems" to be much more robust than the first radio. I am very happy with the selectivity and sensitivity on the ham radio bands and the USAF GCS frequencies. Some other reviews on other sites have complained about the Air Band's sensitivity, but I'm very happy with it as well. The upgrade to 4 stars for everyone!
