I was looking for a smaller, more versatile camera as an alternative to my large, full-frame DSLR. For me, the field includes the Nikon Z50, Panasonic GX9, Fujifilm X-T30 and Olympus E-M5 (all comparable in size, resolution and features). I would highly recommend the Z50 to any mirrorless camera user just starting out. Benefits include: + Lens sharpness and image quality on par with the 20-megapixel range or better than anything else + Comfortable handling and a nice viewfinder + Lenses cover a wide range with a compact size and light weight (be sure to buy a kit with both lenses) + Absolutely fantastic value for money I really, REALLY wanted the Z50 to work for me, but as an enthusiast I couldn't quite wrap my head around the lens choice. The two lenses that come with it are the only ones that can be used for at least a couple of years. There are no other Z DX lenses, and the only one on the roadmap is in the same range (no wide-angle zoom or primes planned). The Z50 doesn't have built-in stabilization, so other Z lenses don't benefit from stabilization, and using other Nikon lenses requires an adapter, adding to the cost and bulk. "I look forward to seeing you again in a few years.
