Review on Kingston 2 GB microSD Flash Memory Card with SD and miniSD Adapters – SDC/2GB-2ADP: High-Quality Storage Solution for Multiple Devices by Fuzzhead Nelson

A great helper at an affordable price

This small 2GB Micro SD card allowed my daughter's new mobile phone (Blackberry Pearl) to store lots of photos and music. Without them, the phone could only hold a few pixels and no serious music. After paying hundreds for a phone, it makes sense to spend $10 on this little gem to make the phone's features useful. While browsing similar stores online I ran into some issues. For $10, it was worth the risk, and none of the fears became an issue for this model. Specifically: - This device is the correct physical size. Other Micro SD cards tested were too wide or too thick for some devices. This device is pretty fast. A higher price can be paid for faster micro SD cards, but that's not necessary, at least for phone, music and picture storage. The phone using this device is instantly updated from the PC, so there are no speed issues in that regard either. I would imagine that digital camcorders would need to write large amounts of memory to a card like this quickly, but for typical applications this card has the performance you need. 2GB is sufficient. Yes, bigger size means more storage space for even more music and pictures. It's not worth the price for most people. I went from an almost useless feature to a fully functional phone (and a happy teenage daughter!) and spent less than $10 on this micro SD card. I could spend $40 for twice the capacity but it wouldn't make much of a difference. Instead of adding a lot of storage space to a phone, anyone who wants a lot of storage space for photos and music should consider an 80GB Zune or another MP3/iPod device built primarily for high-quality music and maybe pictures. Your phone or camera needs *enough* extra storage, but not in large amounts. Stop preaching about usage. Bottom line, this 2GB Micro SD card from Kingston really does what you would expect from a well known brand in the storage market. The 2GB model in particular is sold at a staggering price. When you come from Revain you also get free shipping and a great returns policy.
