He is getting older and has a general genetic knee problem that makes him limp a bit and makes jumping difficult. He weighs 11 pounds, if that helps with the decision. We had other favorite steps, but they seemed to slip and he was nervous getting on and off his mother's hospital bed, so I took these to see if it would work better for him. It came quickly and requires literally NO assembly. We put him in the same spot as the other one and he already seemed to know he was stronger. He jumped right in, happy as a clam! He no longer fears or hesitates. These steps feel solid and don't slide or wobble as he dashes up and down them. They are amazing. I have no idea how they can work for a larger animal but they get five stars from me. Ordering another set for my 19 year old cat!
