I don't use them for handrails in the usual way. I put them on the shower walls so I have something to hold on to when I lift my foot to wash it. I no longer have to hold on to a soap dish or towel rail that I feared would detach from the wall if I put weight on them. My home renovation boys thought I was crazy, but they went along with this stupid idea and a few others without even rolling their eyes. I am happy to report that they work exactly as I had hoped. I have had no complaints about incorrect screws or bolts, I had a 12" installed in my shower tray and a 16" in my master shower tray. I placed mine horizontally, but feel free to position them however you like and use the size that suits you.
