mine works as it should **UPDATE FOR 2011** **UPDATE FOR 2017**

I've been looking for something like this for a long time and have read many, many reviews of both weather radios with/alert and desktop only -Device Alerts. Finally committed to it. I had no problems with it, it works as it should. I change batteries regularly. It's noisy. Our house is only 1,000 square feet so we can hear it in every room, even with the doors closed. Yes, I programmed my own SAME codes for my county and counties adjacent to mine. It wasn't that hard. I also set up which alerts don't sound, and I didn't find that difficult either. I have to say that I am very satisfied. I also have a Voyager radio. Voyager doesn't get very good reception in the city. It seems to be having tracking issues and even missing alerts. I did NOT have this problem with the First Alert desktop block - it has everything I haven't blocked. I can't tell which one for the radio - when both are set up and on at the same time and the radio is tuning out its city weather broadcasts, but First Alert receives and reports the alert. **UPDATE FOR 2011** Worked great in 2011, including snowstorm warnings in January 2011 and spring high wind warnings. Still working great at the time of this update. Again, I'd recommend that you check it often and make sure your backup batteries are fully charged - the screen will show a small battery icon in the corner when the battery is low. I have found that with multiple power cuts during thunderstorms, at work and at night, multiple such incidents will drain the battery within a few hours as the device becomes battery dependent. On average, I change the batteries twice in the summer. In September 2011, he never once received a weekly test warning — and as expected, he flashed his warning light to alert me to that fact. . To be on the safe side I went through the menu and double checked that all my SAME codes were still activated and that all the correct alarms were activated and they were. The following week he picked up the signal perfectly and continued to do so with no problems. Wall. Always check it every 6-8 weeks to see if the low battery indicator is showing. It would not be good if you have a power outage and your device does not work because the batteries are dead. Otherwise, it's a solid device that still works.
