On paper this looks like a great budget phone. I use my phone for work and pleasure and was looking forward to setting up a "work profile" (I was on an iPhone and found very little work-life balance). I'm fairly platform agnostic so setting it up was as easy as ever. After installing my work apps (Outlook and Company Portal, certificates, and security software), I received a notification from our corporate security team that my new phone went offline. I opened our security software and found additional background executions with com.android.system.ui - deeper analysis on my phone revealed several known malware/adware running in the background. Even after a full factory reset and cleaning, the same programs worked again. After doing some more research about the TCL brand, I found that they have historically made consumer products (TVs and phones) that spy on their users. If you want to use this phone on a secure corporate network, look elsewhere.
