They won't cut each other because of the arc.
I have used (and continue to use) this to cut paper tape from thick ace bandages. Since the ends are blunt, I don't have to worry about cutting my skin. Also, the vet recently put a rather thick bandage around my dog's paw. Without these scissors I would be afraid to cut her skin. The scissors made it easy and I wasn't worried.
