I washed this duvet according to the instructions before putting it on the bed. I also ordered the same blanket in a different color (lemon) and experienced the same thing. The washing machine not only had a lot of lint when I dried the comforter, but also the lint it shed (and of course there was more lint on my clothes - and also in the vents on the dryer door). ). After washing the duvet felt bulkier and softer and I didn't notice any shrinkage which is great but I hope the peeling was a one time issue and it doesn't mean the duvet wears out. too fast, causing tons of fibers to be lost in the wash. I'm thankful it's cotton: I wouldn't want to throw that much microfiber in the water! Otherwise it seems to be a very good blanket: good medium weight (not too light), nice colour, nice feel.
