Tip: Setup tips. The waterproof kit is more durable.

This is my 3rd set of LED strips. Thought I'd give my 2 cents on how they differ and how they are similar to other kits and some tips on how to set it up and use it. General Uses: - This is a quick and easy way to add character and decor to a room on a budget. They look cool and add to the mood. Because of their length, I can use the same kit for my entertainment center and reach my desk. They work as a good replacement for lights for use at night. You get a lot of brightness and it's great to be able to adjust every color. All of these different sets appear to be very similar, so you can't go wrong with any of them. With the remote control you can set a static color or a nice strobe/breathing effect. Similarities/Differences: As far as I can tell, the actual strips of all these different kits and their remotes are essentially the same in terms of quality and usage. As long as you buy the same length, SMD and waterproof or not, they work the same way. The biggest difference I found in the quality of the power supply. I'll get into that later in the "Tips" section. Tips: 2 of my previous kits were damaged and stopped working after about a year each. One set was damaged because the strips themselves were too tired as I often moved the shelves they were attached to. I've found that while I don't need this feature, buying a waterproof kit actually makes it more durable. Thanks to the outer plastic shell, they tire less. I would definitely recommend buying a waterproof kit. If you want to move them in time or are still unsure where to put them, I would suggest leaving the sticker on and not removing it. Instead, think of a creative way to hang them without glue. So they can be easily moved if necessary. For example, I use a combination of rubber bands and velcro to install them. If I ever wanted to move them, I could do so without damaging them. Another important tip is to be careful with the power supply. I don't think they are very reliable. My other kit has stopped working properly as I think the adapter died. It started making a hissing noise and I was worried about turning it on. Having only had this kit for a week I'm not sure how reliable the adapter is. I will say be careful when moving it and don't twist the wires.
