Review on Dorman 697 706 GM Differential Cover: Ultimate Protection for Your Vehicle's Gears by Andrew Enriquez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent quality but poor quality control

Perfect match for my 2006 GMC Sierra rear diff. Instead of RTV or Form-a-Gasket I prefer to use a pad bought from Revain. The drain plug (nice feature with a magnet on the end of the bolt) with a threaded hole had a large burr inside that I have to file off to eliminate the risk of loose burrs falling off and getting caught in the gears. This part is thick. I replaced my original cover as it was so badly rusted that the transmission oil leaked out. There were similar problems with corrosion of the brake lines, shackles and other brackets. Northeast Salt (Urea) kills the mild steel used for these parts after the barrier (paint/primer) wears out. Just put it on, time will tell. Also, the color of the part is more matte than glossy. I like it better with a matte flat finish. The hole pattern was perfect.
