My 9 year old son prefers the compression fit (SPD) and he likes the boxer shorts on the longer side. We have ordered all Target brands as well as Under Armor etc. The material, quality and fit of these Ethikas are much better (that's why they cost more, yes). He has Dutch roots, so his buttocks and thighs are a bit thick. (Although he has a small waist and broad shoulders - he's not a "husky") He loves them so much he keeps them for special occasions and puts an Ethika sticker on his laptop lol.
