While it is true that a standard US garden hose CANNOT be attached to it, contrary to the description, it works well and pumps water very easily. It's not too fast, so if you're in a hurry you can get a bigger pump. As for the hose, I was disappointed that a regular garden hose wouldn't fit (if it did I'd give it a five star rating) but I had an old garden hose that I cut off the female end of and slipped over the smaller one attached the connector and secured it with a zip tie (tightened with a screwdriver) and it works great. I understand that not everyone will have these things on hand, but it worked without any problems.
