The top is very tight. I mean it's hard just to put your foot in a shoe and you need a shoehorn to close a deal. But I love the style and hopefully with a small donation I can stretch them enough to wear to formal occasions. It's not like I have super high arches. Just the opposite. I usually put orthotics in my shoes. They don't fit in these Florsheimers (and leave enough room for my legs). buyer? Beware! And if you click on these shoes, be prepared to return them. Too bad Boston doesn't make these shoes anymore. They didn't hurt that much.
