Be careful! for coasters

My wife needed iPad coasters for her pottery and kitchen. Either way, she enjoys listening to podcasts on her iPad while she works, but wishes the iPad didn't touch dirty surfaces. This product turned out to be a good choice. It's strong, durable, stylish, and coated with silicone rubber to prevent slipping and scratches. (See photo attached to this review.) I would give this stand five stars barring one unfortunate flaw in its design. Immediately after attaching the support bar to the base, the assembly step outlined in the user manual, I attempted to increase the height of the arm (which attaches to the support bar) following the instructions in the manual. This required considerable force to (1) press the release button and (2) move the lever up on the support rod to a higher position. Well, when I pushed hard to raise my arm, it slipped and ripped off the top of the support bar, ripping off the plastic plug that was supposed to prevent that. This, in turn, caused the release button assembly and its powerful little high-pressure spring to pop out of the tube covering it. Move the release button assembly to the corridor. Luckily nobody was hurt by the flying parts. As far as I can tell there were no other flying units. Picked up the stand, it seems to be working fine. I glued the end cap back on so hopefully this accident won't happen again. (Previously only friction held the end cap in place.) However, due to the poor and potentially dangerous design of this product, I had to deduct two stars from my rating.
