Our home was built in 2005 and the common room was designed for an old school rear projection TV. Good thing it has aged like milk. I was looking for a solution without frames and drywall. This bracket solved the problem. The drywall "shelf" above the TV niche is 28 inches deep. This mount is more than adequate for a depth of 43 inches and leaves plenty of room for adjustment. One reviewer claimed the mount didn't work because the bolts were misaligned and the mount couldn't be used off-center. In my case the bolts were as far off center as possible, one mostly dead and the other two 16 inches on each side. This means the mounting plate was 8 inches to the right of center. This is NOT a problem as the mount rotates to either side. I tried to show it in the attached picture. To be clear, the mount is off-center 8 inches to the right, but the TV is dead. This might not work when I was close to the mount's maximum reach, which is 43 inches, but it works fine with a reach of 28 inches. I agree with some commenters that the mount is not easy to move. For me this is a feature and not a bug as I want it to stay in place. If you intend to move your TV frequently, this mount may not be for you. Now it's time to buy a bigger TV.
