The length of the second handle

I find the leash to be of good quality and finish. The problem I have is the distance from the shorter handle to the dog's neck. I expected it to be about half the distance from the end handle. After attaching the neck ring to the dog's neck, the distance to the handle is too small. In a larger dog with a larger neck diameter, the distance to the center handle is significantly reduced. I don't think the leash will fit me and I can return it.
