Elago dust protection grilles belong to the "I really need this” category. If, like me, you're looking for flawless protection for your tech devices, this might be for you. Having had a pair of airbrushes before, the magnets on this device have been known to attract certain debris and eventually cause that beautiful white finish to become scratched or discolored. This piece of very thin metal helps with that factor and adds a bit of extra elegance. The packaging is simple. two thin laser-cut pieces of metal are embedded between two plastic sheets for protection. That's all. There are no instructions included with the kit and you can experiment or look for ways to install this item yourself. It took me about 30 minutes to get this installed properly according to my preferences and "perfectionist" needs, but in the end I still feel like I could have installed it better, but I couldn't move after it was placed. The material is surprisingly strong. After reinstalling a few times and feeling like the thinnest parts would snap, I noticed the product is holding up great. Of course, I have a bit of finesse and skill when it comes to such delicate setups, so results may vary. There was a bit of metal warping at the end where I removed it a couple of times. For the installation I needed flat-tipped tweezers and a plastic toothpick, the end of which I flattened for easier removal. I've found that it's best to place the bottom of the product on the top half of the airfields' sticky bottom to ensure proper alignment. You can then close the airfields and hope you placed them correctly so that the sticky side is in contact with where you wanted it to be in contact with the airfields. This was repeated several times to ensure correct positioning, each time forcibly removing the product hoping it would not tear. The final result can be seen in the photo. My version is matte gold, which I think goes well with my leather bag. This gives it a touch of personality and elegance for an otherwise standard white egg and bean device. If you have good manual skills, you can easily complete the installation. If not, you can order two in case the first one doesn't work during installation. Note to Elago: Instructions or a suitable video can help your customers with the installation. You might also want to consider another way to install them because that was a real nightmare. Maybe a shape that fits right into the Airpods case in a specific spot so customers can just snap it on and click it.
