Review on Virzen Portable Monitor Computer Nintendo S02: 15.6" 60Hz – Ultimate Visual Companion on the Go by Garland Shockley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exceeded expectations

Last year I bought a Virzen monitor to use with my Pi/gaming and I decided to press the trigger on this monitor to use at work. Summary of this review? Just buy it now. You will not regret it. For the full version, read on: Packing/Unpacking: The box looks very nice on the outside, but inside everything is neat and organized. The content includes (of course) a monitor, a smart cover, a power adapter with a USB-A to USB-C power cable, an HDMI to mini-HDMI cable and a USB-A to USB-C -Cable. This will help you adjust to any situation. I would recommend buying a longer power cord. The one that comes in the box is about three feet tall. I personally have a ten foot cable, but you may not need it. Screen Design: The screen of this model has a matte finish perfect for an office environment. The body is made of aluminum and looks very durable. It's not bulky and thin enough to easily fit in a backpack or laptop bag. All in all it looks elegant. Volume: There are two speakers that produce a lot of sound. I usually keep the volume at 50 (default) which is enough for me. There's a 3.5mm port on the side, so you can plug in speakers or headphones if you need something with more power. Image: The image is excellent. Colors are rich, vibrant and don't look washed out. There are many settings to change the color temperature with multiple presets to find something to your liking. I've watched movies and played video games on this monitor, and it was affordable: this monitor has tons of connections for every situation, but what amazes me is how it behaves when connected to certain devices. Although I don't have a Samsung phone, my brother hooked his up to it. The DEX desktop environment was born and the phone became the touchpad. What is amazing is that it can be used as a fast and compact PC. I'm jealous that I don't have a Samsung phone. The monitor also allows the Switch to enter docking mode on the monitor. This makes it useful when your spouse or kids are using the TV and need games in a pinch. At the same time, your Switch will be charged! Final note: Overall I like this monitor. I took it with me while waiting for my car inspection and it saved me a lot of boredom. The only negative I can say is that you cannot use it vertically unless you have a monitor stand. Trying to stand it upright isn't possible as one end is covered in cables and the other end is pushing the power button. Consider getting a stand if you prefer to work in portrait mode (or enjoy the occasional SHMUP).

Pros
  • Good screen!
Cons
  • After 3 months the screen started to pixel and streak. Stay away.
