I bought this to replace a Kwikset latch as I have a Schlage doorknob and I wanted them to match. The reviews told me the Schlage is a notch above the Kwikset, which is certainly reflected in the price. However, the real components are just as terrible as Kwikset. The keys stick, the parts dangle. Crucially, Kwikset allows for slightly larger openings in the door. So if you replace one latch with another, you end up with a gap. If you can get over that, it's still worse than Kwikset. You can only remove the key when it is in the locked position. This way you can never leave your house unlocked. Maybe it's a feature for someone, but not for me. Also, possibly due to a defect, the inside lever only works when the key is on the outside. I can't think of a scenario where this would be useful. Finally, when inserting the screws that connect the inside and outside, you have to use so much force that you risk loosening the screws. I managed to keep them on, but damaged them so badly that the previously black screws are now silver in places, ruining the matte black look I was originally going for.
