Review on Espresso 3-Tier Wide Winsome Terrace Storage Shelf, 26-Inch by Daniel Murr

I bought this item for storage in my home office. I don't think you can expect that much for €69. but i'm still disappointed with the lack of quality PROS: easy to assemble and all parts were included. The shelf is quite sturdy and is the height of a typical desk, making it a nice addition to an office environment. It looks quite solid and gives the impression of solid wood. The packaging was properly protected and there were no dents or scratches on the parts. CONS: The quality of the stain used is very, very poor. Probably the worst piece of furniture I've ever collected. On fig. 1 shows the difference in shade of the side parts and the upper transverse part - they are far from the same color. Photo #2 shows an almost completely unfinished surface that was on one of the side panels, next to where one of the shelves was attached. This area felt very rough and nobody seemed to have bothered to bring it in line with the rest of the tree. Although this shelf is advertised as an "espresso" color, most are generally a darker cherry color with a pronounced red tinge. So be careful when trying to pair it with other real espresso pieces. Although the packaging was sturdy, the amount of dust on the items was insane - way more than any other piece of furniture I've ever ordered online. It took a lot of repeated mopping/cleaning to get it all out. Finally, I have to say that everything you've read about the smell in other reviews is perfectly true - the thing has an incredibly strong chemical smell. It's in a room as far from my bedroom as possible, but when I went to bed the first night after assembling it, the smell permeated the house so much it felt like the shelf was next to it me. 3 days after I opened all the windows in my office and let the wind clean the air, the smell finally went away. Had I known, I would have built a shelf in my garage and left it there for a week before bringing it home. everyone who wants to use it as a decorative element in a prominent place.
