I would like to start by saying that this product is a great idea. As you can see in the picture on the right, it's just a threaded rod with two cone-shaped "screwdrivers" that take a nut. As you rotate the rod, it pulls the actuators together and pushes out the expansion tool. The only downside I see with this design is that once the expander's "fingers" are fully expanded, they don't form a perfect circle, but an octagonal shape. You must rotate the tool during the flare process to evenly expand the pipe. This product came with one of the largest ligaments that broke on the largest expansion tool. This should be a clear indication of the quality of this product. Luckily they come with a set of spares for each tool size and as an optimist I decided to give it a try anyway. I also had to stretch my damn pipe. I used this product on an 08 Dodge Caravan exhaust. The replacement resonator I bought was meant to be widened for a silencer, but was the same size instead. You know how cheap aftermarket parts are. With a half inch of travel and a socket to match, I started with the second largest tool since the largest didn't quite fit in the fully retracted position. After the tool was clamped into the pipe, it exploded violently on impact. Within seconds, the Allen screwdriver disintegrated. After that it was also difficult to pull back the broken tool so I could get it out of the exhaust pipe. Luckily, I was able to expand the pipe in question enough to fit the largest expansion tool partially inside the pipe. This time I took my time and slowly extended and retracted the tool several times and in different positions. My last attempt at stretching the hose actually broke my finger in half. In addition, the threads on both the shank and the nut are partially broken after one use, as shown in the middle image. Overall this product is a great idea but I'm not sure if it saved me money compared to having an exhaust shop just expand the pipe for me.
