Review on Dakine Scout Gloves Large Carbon Men's Accessories in Gloves & Mittens by Bryan Ramirez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good price, warm glove. Not for snowmobiles.

My hand is 7.25 inches and I'm size medium. They fit almost perfectly - the fingers on the liners are very long (about 1.5 inches dangling from my fingertips), but that's the only complaint I have about the size. For outdoor walks, they're pretty hot without a liner. Up to about 20 I can use them for snowmobiling without a liner. I have to use earplugs underneath, which is a bit awkward because the fingers are so long. The balaclavas tend to fold when I try to put on the outer glove making them feel too small. I found that I could pull the gloves off my fingers completely (allowing the excess material to stick together around the base of my fingers) and immediately don the outer glove without much effort. My snowmobile has handlebar heaters that work well if the gloves are actually windproof. It doesn't look like it. If I keep my fingers clenched tightly on the steering wheel, my fingers hardly get warm. If I even relax at speed (the speed limit here is around 20 km/h), my fingers go numb after about 5 seconds. If you need something for snowboarding, snowmobiling, etc. I wouldn't recommend them, but for snow removal, clearing and moving machinery for plowing, dog walking, etc. they are more than adequate. This is the right price to get something warm right away. They just aren't made for what I was looking for.
