I'm older and my hearing isn't what it used to be. I enjoy watching movies on my computer, but I miss half of the dialogue when listening through the monitor's built-in speaker. I have headphones that work well but are awkward to plug and unplug into the audio ports whenever I want to use them. So I wanted a small portable speaker that ONLY needed a USB connection for power and audio so I could hear and understand dialogue. I've been using this little speaker for over a month now and it fits the bill. Apparently it has its own sound card because it is only connected to the computer via a USB port. (Most "USB speakers" are USB-powered, but still need to be plugged into an audio port to play.) It's small enough that I can balance it on the armrest of my chair when I'm watching movies , and being able to point to it speaks directly to me, which is easier for me to understand. It probably won't suit tongurus, but if you're not picky about sound quality (like me) it's great. It does have stereo, but obviously with two speakers crammed into such a tiny enclosure, the stereo effect is minimal. And it's cheap enough that I can afford to buy another one if it only lasts a few months. Definitely recommended!
