I originally bought a standard swivel microphone at a large music store. No names need to be mentioned. With several adjustments / disassembly, the threads are torn. I lazily got it working for a few years as we didn't play much. Eventually broke and bought this new setup and it's extremely reliable for me as the occasional lead singer in my "father band". It just has a lot more room to adjust the center of gravity and several sections slide down easily for portability. It can be completely disassembled and put into a nice carry case, but I don't think that's necessary as it can be compressed when assembled. Very satisfied!
