They are exactly as pictured. They're the same as the temporary tattoos we found in boxes of Cracker Jacks. We plan to use them to complete our skeleton costumes. We've experimented with them before to understand how to apply and remove them, so be prepared for errors. Give yourself about 90 minutes to apply this to your face or someone else's. Yes, you can apply a thin layer of white face paint. I recommend water-based face paint, which you can find in your local store's Halloween section, local party stores, arts and crafts stores, and seasonal stores. I don't think these tattoos will hold up well on oil/oil paint. Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap foundation brush to apply the color to your face. You can get it for under $3, made by a cheap cosmetic brand with two "w” in the name. Other useful consumables are an eyeshadow brush (for applying black around the eyes), a contour brush (for blending to create the shape of a skull on the cheeks and temples), a fine-tipped brush, black eyeshadow, and black eyeliner. These tattoos will not stick to your eyebrows. The top of the eyecup should be above the brow, but you can buy a glue stick to glue the brows in and get them out of the way before painting your face white. You need to cut out individual pieces and apply to your face one by one. Cut the eyecups in half for easier attachment, and be sure to cut off the inner white part of the eyecups for easier attachment. Keep all of your face pieces on the counter in the same order that they were attached to the sheet, or take a picture of the sheet before you start cutting. Plan the placement of each piece on your face before you begin. Tips: - If desired, glue the eyebrows with a glue stick. - Paint your face white with a foundation brush dipped in water. Leave to dry completely. Remove the clear plastic wrap and apply one portion to face. Dampen the white backing with a cotton swab to avoid damaging the paint on your face. When the white backing starts to slip (20 - 30 seconds), remove it. Add more water to the white base as needed to secure the tattoo to your face. - When finished, line your eyes with black eyeliner and then use black face paint to fill in the rest of the area between your eyelids and the eye tattoo (the more black eyeliner you use, the less face paint you have near yours eyes) - You can try to get your nose tattooed or just color the tip of your nose with black eyeliner - Use the eyeliner to draw teeth on your lips. Use black eyeshadow and a contour brush to fill in the hollows of your temples, cheeks, upper forehead near the hairline, chin, sides of the nose, wherever you need it to complete the skull look. Important to remove - if you apply it to bare skin rather than a thin layer of white complexion, the tattoos will be harder to remove and you will have to rub your face more. A thin coat of white face paint makes it a little harder to apply but seems a little easier to remove. To remove, use a cotton swab to apply oil to the tattoos (baby oil, canola oil, olive oil, anything goes). Leave the oil on for a few minutes. Use a makeup removal pad (or donate a rag) to wipe off your tattoos. You may need to repeat this process 1 or 2 more times to remove stubborn tattoos. Be patient. apply oil. let soak. Wipe. Wash and wet your face. Have fun!
