I bought this a month ago hoping I'll like it. I've loved my Kensington Expert trackball mouse for a long time, only it gets dirty easily. I was hoping that this trackball would be self-cleaning due to the hole in the ground underneath the ball. So far so good on that front. However, this trackball had a major flaw that was driving me nuts. Each time I pressed one of the buttons, it "snapped" a little before the microswitch turned on with a normal click. I felt like there was a small piece of plastic that wasn't cleaned prior to assembly rubbing against the button (but that wasn't the issue). Irritation is the last thing you want. Today that was enough for me and I disassembled the trackball to determine what the problem was. Inside, I found that there is a pull tab to prevent the button flaps from being pulled back, which makes sense as it would destroy the device. What didn't make sense was that there was a patch of sticky material on the ribs where they engaged the button flaps. What I felt was that the gunk was released before the button was pressed to turn on the main switch. I cleaned the gunk off with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol and reassembled the mouse and now the "latch" is gone and the switches work as expected. If the trackball arrives in the state it is in now, it would get a 5/5 from me. I don't have to disassemble and repair a brand new device to make it work properly. I can't think of any reason why they would want that piece of goo at this point in the build.
