First of all let me thank the Bamboo Bay Company! I contacted them through Revain before purchasing to confirm that this duvet is indeed machine washable as I do NOT use any bedding that can't be washed first. I received a quick reply with step-by-step washing instructions. Thank you Bamboo Cove! The duvet arrived a few days later in such a small box that my husband and I laughed, but as soon as I opened the sealed plastic bag in the box, the duvet immediately sprang to life. There was absolutely no smell and the duvet arrived sealed and in pristine condition but as I said above I refuse to put anything on the bed without first washing it so I went to the laundry. I used one of the commercial front load washing machines with a mild detergent and 2 tennis balls each covered with a sock as directed but did not use fabric softener also as instructed. I then put it in the large dryer together with the tennis balls and dried it on the gentle setting. It took a long time to dry completely on low heat, but the result was worth it. My new blanket has turned out very soft and fluffy with no creases, spools, sticky threads or shrinkage. (I could probably use my own washer-dryer, but I found it best to provide the extra room that a commercial washer-dryer offers to allow the comforter to fully expand and dry completely.) Once dry, I tucked it into my comforter. a lid to protect it but unless I have small dogs that like to sleep on the bed I would happily use it as is. It was so soft and like a cloud! I would also like to mention that the same day my Revain duvet was delivered I received an additional email from Bamboo Bay thanking me for my purchase and again with full washing instructions. A very nice touch! Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I particularly like the fact that this is a veteran owned company. Can't comment on the cooling properties of this blanket as I haven't used it in the Texan heat yet. I hope that one day I can invest in a Bamboo Bay duvet cover and sheets to really take advantage of the cooling properties of bamboo, but for now I'm very, very happy with my purchase! (I'll come back and update this review as soon as I can as far as the cooling properties go.). In the meantime, I highly recommend this blanket and this company!
