Review on 🐠 Aquasens LED Mini Cube Aquarium Kit - 1.6 Gallons by Mandy Tyrrell

Very nice little pool.

While waiting for the guppy spawn, I slowly assembled some tabletop nanotanks to breed them. I really enjoyed installing this one. A good quality plastic tank, with the polish normally found on expensive acrylic tanks. The rounded corners are the same as large acrylic cymbals, with their inherent distortion, but that doesn't bother me at all. The internal filter is a bit too strong for this tank, but there are a few simple fixes. I took an AquaClear 70 sponge and cut a piece to fit snugly against the back of this filter. The sponge slows the flow and acts as a biological carrier that is not present in the filter. I won't be replacing it, just flushing it from time to time to keep the bacterial colony going. I also took a plastic plant and tied it to the front of the filter with black thread. This helps restrict flow further, making it ideal for one of my bettas that is in the tank right now playing with a ball. The only thing I really don't like about this tank is the fancy lid. It's not tight, just sits on top. It's easy to drop the lid in the water when adjusting, I've had that a few times. It's a good thing that the separate light is clearly waterproof! I think when they designed the lid they didn't take into account the subtle pressure of the water weight on the sides of the tank so the lid doesn't fit perfectly when the tank is full. Overall though, this is a cute little tank perfect for keeping guppies or a spacious mansion with a tail filter.
