I must have been lucky. Didn't see all the bad reviews about the wire being the wrong gauge until I got it (up to 1/3 of the reviews seems to mention the wire was thinner than ordered!). But I was lucky. The "high tech" way I've been able to check the size is by using my wire stripper. Like at least one review I read, I put it in a 12 gauge slot and stripped off a small piece of insulation. It was a nice clean cut and only a few strands of wire were cut so I'm glad it's true to size. Still, I'm very happy with this purchase (so far). I haven't installed the wiring yet (fingers crossed I didn't get a split coil as some have mentioned). I really only need the 10ft and 20ft pieces, so I'll be fine even if it's not a continuous piece (but I'll drop a few stars if it's split). From what I've been able to tell so far the insulation seems to be flexible, not like some reviews that say the insulation is very stiff and of poor quality.
