Review on ☕ Premium Ultra-Fine Mesh Cold Brew Coffee Filter: Perfect for 2-Quart Mason Jars by Brandon Pape

Good quality, cheap and works great. A step beyond the traditional bagging method.

I love cold coffee - not only the taste but also quicker and easier when you need a cup, not a whole kettle. It's cheaper than K-cup brewers, and since you're using regular coffee grounds, it makes things easier too. I've been making a cold drink out of a milk and nut pouch for years. As for brewing, it works great. But cleaning is a bit of a pain as pulling out the grist and rinsing the bag is messy. After looking at many stainless steel filters, I decided on this one from Geesta. It fits perfectly in a 2 liter mason jar and has a rubber seal on the bottom lip to help close the lid. I also like the small folding handle that makes it easy to install and remove the filter. The filter is double-walled, so it is durable and will not deform when touched. Cleaning is easy - just rinse. If you've used a nut bag like I have, you'll definitely appreciate how much easier and cleaner this filter is in comparison - no longer needing to flip it multiple times to get every grain out of every nook and cranny. As far as brewing goes, it does exactly what you want it to. On several occasions I noticed very little (<1/2 teaspoon) sediment. That's very small for a 2 liter jar. I attribute this to the use of canned pre-ground coffee for standard coffee makers. When cold brewing, it is advisable to use a coarser grind. It doesn't bother me, it's so beautiful you can't taste/tell it's there. I think you could pour through a paper filter, but there's so little of it that it's probably not worth the hassle and expense of a filter. This is a personal preference. If I used a coarser grind, there would be no buildup - the filter mesh is incredibly fine. All in all it was a great purchase and I am very happy with it. If you've never had cold brew coffee before, there are instructions with the recommended amount of coffee, which I've tried and works great. He also has a few recipes - I haven't tried them as 99% of the coffee I drink is black. Whether it's your first cold brew experience or you're just looking for an improved method, I don't think you can do better.
