A refurbished yet stunning addition to Garmin's premium line of instruments and data acquisition

UPDATED AGAIN - Lost another star: a moment of silence as this overhaul has lasted less than a year. This is the least reliable refurbished product I have ever owned. In fact, it only lasted 48 hours between charges, but everything else worked flawlessly. then 2 weeks ago the aftermarket strap I got for it (I'm allergic to silicone) ripped when I was making my bed and when I went to get the watch off the charger it was black when it wasn't was connected and only said Garmin when connected but does not respond to buttons. never got wet but this refurbished item lasted just over a year. Considering it took me a good 3 weeks to figure it out. UPDATED and lose a star: like a repaired watch. I'm pretty sure they did NOT change the battery. Now I charge almost EVERY DAY and it doesn't even last 24 hours anymore. not cool. 100% doesn't even last a day? Yes, it charges from a flatline to 75% in an hour, but if it can't keep up with event tracking for days, then what's the good of it? WHAT YOU GET - Just using the bike and heart rate widgets, as well as the weather, sun and pedometer apps that I use once, I can honestly say that Garmin has had a lot of success with this little guy. Therefore - MAN, it's waterproof, so ride in the rain, paddle, swim, wash dishes and shower with a computer on your wrist! Next, the fact that the Garmin software and IQ apps (primary level of suggestion when scrolling) / widgets (secondary level of suggestion after pressing the right button) are intuitive to me and seem endless is a huge help for this watch. Fully charged in less than 15 minutes, no kidding BUT only if you use a nice magnetic stand that I've been losing for 3 months. Finally, GPS works quickly and automatically, without waiting, as with older models. USE -- So one star down is related to the two issues I'm having: SLEEP and visibility. Of course, Garmin listened to us and made a watch face that's visible in the bright sun or on the street. And thankfully it has a great backlight (lifetime for anyone) to see in the dark, but reading data is almost impossible without it. Now for the biggest problem, sleep tracking. We spend 1/3 of our lives lying on our backs enduring restful, still hours of naps and sleep, and this thing misses the mark here. It needs to be manually adjusted to tell you actual sleep data, and yet it's still not as accurate as its Vivofit predecessor. Gets the wrong clock even when stopped and started manually. Very disappointed in this aspect. Finally, there are glitches when loading items, but they never show up in your apps or widgets. My cable doesn't connect well and keeps connecting and disconnecting even though it can be seen charging. Very very disappointed with this as it should be a smooth and efficient process. DO NOT LEAVE A MAGNET on the laptop. I don't know what exactly he's doing with the computer, but it's not good. Be prepared to watch videos of people showing you how to do this and how to undo this and that, but overall the pros far outweigh the cons. Would like to see more professional options for this model (metal watch strap, smaller strap for us men).

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
