Updated Best Kitchen & Bathroom Fixtures Review

2nd update: While I really like this, it just stays in place by applying a little bead of aquarium sealer or waterproof sealer around the bottom . It successfully kept all the hair from getting underneath after I turned it upside down (see 1st review) but of course nothing keeps it in place that much. If I add a thin ring of sealant, I twist it back to how it should be and I suspect that drain strainer will stop moving and there won't be any more problems. I really love how flat and smooth it is and the hair doesn't even get stuck in holes but just lays on top for quick removal. I like that it looks good and doesn't look like you're sitting in a bathtub. And that it's SS, so it won't rust. But be warned: it may not stay in place 100% of the time if you try it yourself, and you may have to do what I'm doing to keep it from moving around a bit so You can see how to get partial hairs underneath I noticed. 1st update: Still happy with this drain strainer but there are 2 things I've noticed with more use. First, when I picked it up one day, there was a small clump of hair underneath. I was surprised as I had hair on top and I don't know "how" the hair got underneath. It still collected more hair than my bath's built in filter and still worth it. Continue reading my solution. Second, it moved a bit over my bathtub drain (initially it stayed where I put it) and I think the excess soap might be interfering with the silicone ring as well. But the movement was so little that it still clogged the drain in my bathtub and I only pushed once a week, so it's not really an issue. To see if I could make it easier for the hair to get underneath, I flipped it over the drain so it lay perfectly flat on the bottom of the tub. It seems to have worked, and the slight movement doesn't seem to have increased or decreased. The silicone (which is now on top since I flipped it) isn't even visible. This is such a small silicone ring around the edge and transparent in color that it is almost invisible. So I still love this drain cap! Still looks great, anything that gets caught rubs off in one fell swoop without getting stuck in holes and will never rust or break. It's made to last and will always look new. First Rating: Perfection! Works well, stays in place even when full of water hits, cleaning is effortless and looks very nice. An unintended benefit is that my dog's claws don't get stuck in the holes during the bath like they would with built-in strainer holes in the tub. This sieve is also completely smooth with no rough edges or holes that could scratch your foot or paw. And this strainer simply rests on top of the tub's built-in strainer, so nothing needs to be removed. This strainer definitely catches hairs that the built in old bath strainer didn't have! The downside is that I thought it was too expensive and put off buying it for a long time.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • It's ok
