I'm so happy with it I've just placed another order. The size is perfect, they fit my kitchen counter between the edge and all the stuff I have on the counter which keeps the cat inside but still allows me to have a strip between her and the appliances to place things . I mostly don't connect them. If I need a smaller area, I just stack as many as needed on top of each other. They're so easy to move around when I need to use the counter that I just stack the ones I'm moving on top of the ones next to them. They come apart quite easily if you don't put them together. The spikes are also strong enough to place items like a plate on, so you don't have to keep moving the mat to fill the plate. I also use them alone for smaller items like a trash can where I don't want the cat jumping up and accessing the counter that way.
