A must for new parents! The search ends here.

Background: My wife and I became parents to a boy for the first time (now 4 months old). Until recently we used a Vtech video monitor in combination with a separate Vtech audio monitor. My theory was to have a separate audio monitor because we "only" want to turn on the video monitor when we want to hear noise or see what's going on. This has been a great way to monitor so far, but we found that every time we opened the app, Vtech took a while to connect and the camera had ZERO ability to monitor vitals. Sometimes we could see him on camera but we couldn't see his breathing which was a bit confusing at times. The bottom line is that we decided we needed a system that would monitor vitals and sleep, and the Miku camera does it all without any extra accessories. Other options required tracking devices on our son, which we didn't want. Advantages of Miku: Extremely professional and clean packaging. Very easy to set up and easy to understand instructions. Ultra modern look like Apple... Easy to use app. Being able to see "at a glance" how your child is breathing makes this system worth its weight in gold - absolutely priceless! In our case, we can always click on the app to check our boy in peace, especially when we hear noises or squeaks coming from his room. Sometimes we just leave the app open on our phones and monitor it during the first part of its sleep state. We like how the system can alert us when he's moving, waking up, or sleeping. It's like a video babysitter watching him which is so cool. Another plus is the ability to view sleep analytics night by night. So far that looks pretty accurate and is another big benefit we didn't have with our base camera. If monitoring vital signs and sleep patterns is important to you, this is the camera you need, period. Cons of Miku: No scaling option. Average resolution at best. The instructions ask you to mount the camera incredibly low compared to other zoom camera systems. There's no movement, meaning you can't change camera angles remotely (however, this would likely defeat the benefits of vital monitoring if your camera wasn't always pointed squarely at the crib). The app reports "moving" activity in the "Activity" section every few minutes, which confuses us. We can check many of the "movement" reports and we don't see him moving. Perhaps this is part of an important observation, but I think Mick needs to update this part - it's more confusing than helpful. older, this is the ONLY way for the first year or two of their life. Knowing that your baby is healthy, breathing well and sleeping well makes this investment an absolute must for all new parents.
