This is the first hybrid IEM I've listened to and I hope others don't deliver this tone/timbre. First of all, making music is all about the natural sound of the music, or at least my perception of naturalness. It doesn't sound natural. In fact, I would describe the sound as artificial or even sterile. There is no ringing out, so the sound is very clear, with an almost metallic tinge. I understand why some people like them because when you first hear them you get a sense of detail and resolution. I tried all the jets and filters, the drain seemed the worst. "Reference" filters are the opposite of their namesake. I've invested a lot of money in audio gear over the years, and the "Reference" filters sound the least like Reference I've ever bought. I tried so hard to love them by listening to every possible combination of tips and filters that were available to me because I like the clean look and they have been very comfortable for me. I liked being able to move around without worrying about them losing their seal. I brought them back because in the end the sound is what matters most. I've heard much cheaper headphones that sound better.
