This was unexpected. It appears that the lone production technology has undergone significant alteration. Salomon shoes used to be an option for me because I wear a large size. With the exception of friction-induced abrasions on the top of the foot, the crosses I've owned for more than 7 years (and won't let my wife throw away) are perfect. They don't even flinch. The latest batches appear to have a tighter sole, yet they are not wearable in slush and just marginally better on ice. The leg fractures at the worst possible time. I strongly advise against purchasing winter clothing for the elderly. I own a pair of water-resistant sneakers from a well-known Chinese business; the sole is nearly flat, but it has small flowers on it (and a snowflake is knocked out), making it difficult to pick them off or ride on ice. Another pair of Salomon Fury 3 (extremely light) shoes was purchased at full price without a discount, and in less than a month, the inside backs of the heels were completely worn out! I'll go take it to the store after the season is over. A two-year warranty is provided. I'm not happy with Salomon at all. Salomon used to be the benchmark for manufacturability for me, but it appears that other consumer goods have replaced it.
