The paint is peeling, it stinks horribly

So the thing is great and actually as big as advertised. Arrived intact and with various artificial plants. BUT after weeks of having weird readings in my water (super high ammonia levels) I notice the paint on it peeling off my nails right away, I went to get it from my tank and it was horribly fishy but sort of Chemical. smell for him. So this is great maybe for crafts or home decor but NOT GOOD FOR AQUARIUMS.
