Review on AZDOME Mirror Waterproof Parking Monitor by Brandon Barrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Decent DVR upgrade

I've had my mirror DVR for a little over two weeks. All in all, it worked very well for my purpose of documenting the incident and providing the necessary evidence when needed. I upgraded from a DVR that records video in 1080P mode. The recording quality of the AZDome SLR is significantly better than before for both day and night vision. Below are a few additional thoughts -1. Installation - The process is quite simple, but be sure to watch Youtube videos before installing the rear camera. My car is a Honda Odyssey and it took some creativity to install the backup camera - I chose to mount it on the back ceiling just in front of the rear window. I'm pretty sure there are better ways to install it, but it will take me a lot longer to figure out the wiring or possible drilling to get it done.2. The video quality is excellent, much better than what I've had before in both day and night modes. The best part is that I now have videos of the front and back, so if I ever need to use these videos I'll have more proof. It's still not possible to see another vehicle's license plate if you're moving faster than 70 km/h, but the license plate can be seen if you're slowing down and another vehicle is about 10 feet from your camera; 3. Mirror Display - Always on by default when you start the car. I usually turn off the display so I can use the mirror as a rear view mirror. However, the display can show the front camera, the rear camera, or the front and rear cameras while driving. I find it useful to turn on the display at night as it offers better visualization than my naked eye due to the camera's night mode. Overall, I think the AZDome strikes a reasonable balance between price and features. It worked very well for my purposes and I can only recommend it.
