Investing in a home sewing machine. Not embellishing or otherwise engaging in "decoration" was not my intention. Don't take me as an expert! Then the kid can use it to sew up some holes in her trousers, some drapes, some bed sheets, etc. This is the model I went with, and it paid off! Fantastic tool! Extremely content! It was great interacting with her. Very compliant; doesn't break threads or skip stitches. It's simple to refuel. You can use one hand to wind a bobbin. Quiet! For me, her writing is a whisper after "The Seagull." There are various line types present. Sews a wide variety of materials. Wonderful! An afterthought: Time has passed for more than a year. Zero malfunctions! The needle never even snapped. Like a well-oiled machine. Friends who took one look at me went out and got one, too. Equally pleased!
