I've had an AT&T landline phone for years. They raised my prices in the middle of my closed deal. My prices went from $36 to $62. I even canceled the long-distance connection to lower the tariff. Not only did they cancel my long distance service, they couldn't call anyone outside of my country code. I couldn't call friends and family who were only 15 miles away. I called AT&T to get my long distance connection back, but they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee in the first place. They obviously didn't want my business! They then increased my price to $137.50 because I was no longer on a discount plan. I was looking for a new terrestrial provider for my Chicago area, but found it was no longer available. I called Sprint because they are my family's wireless service provider. They told me about Sprint Connect2. Connect2 lets you connect your home phones to the Sprint network with this attractive little box that looks like a wireless router. Sprint said they temporarily exited Connect2. I searched the internet for one and indeed Revane was found. For only $13 I got one in 2 days with Prime. I hooked up the phone and power, then called Sprint to port my phone number from AT&T. Sprint told me the transition should take between 1 and 24 hours. They said I'll find out when I run out of AT&T beeps. I waited 4 days but still got the beep. My daughter tried to call me but said she had a sprint tape that said to leave a message. I called AT&T to find out what was blocking the phone number porting. I spoke to a girl I could barely understand and she told me I no longer have AT&T service. I told her I was still talking to her from my AT&T land line. She couldn't understand what I was trying to tell her. I hung up and called back. This time I was fortunate to find a gentleman who spoke English very clearly. He told me again that I no longer have AT&T service and laughed when I told him I still use my landline. I called Sprint and they quickly set up my new Connect2 service. I asked how much they charge for a $13 box I bought from Revain. They charge $10 a month rent. Thanks Revin The instructions say you can only plug it directly into the phone and not into the wall outlet. He also warns against placing the box near a TV or microwave. My basic Panasonic phone hangs on the kitchen wall next to the TV and microwave. I plugged the box into an outlet in my living room. I first removed the AT&T wiring outside of my home. That works great. Call quality is acceptable, if not as clear as landline. I would give it 5 stars if the call quality was as good as a land line. Caller ID shows the number but not the name. Since the box is hanging on the wall, my satellite TV still shows the caller's number on the screen. Best of all, Sprint only charges $10 per month for an extra line. a fraction of what AT&T charges. I am very satisfied with Connect2. I immediately tried to buy a replacement box if mine ever failed, but the price almost doubled. It's still a fair price but I'll wait and see if the price returns to what I paid. i love the deal
