Review on ๐ŸŒž iRonsnow Solar Emergency NOAA Weather Radio Dynamo Hand Crank 2000mAh - Red by Victor Olsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well, if you don't expect to charge your phone with it. (Updated version fixes the problem!)

Update! They fixed the phone charging issue by switching to standard USB connections like most USB batteries and more than tripled the size of the battery. This fixes the only issue I had with this unit so I'm updating it to 5 stars. Below is my original review of the old version of the product. (Still working after almost 3 years of use)---------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------Radio, flashlight, Handlebar and solar charge work perfectly. There is a 5V charging output. limited in two important ways. Firstly, as expected, this device is only 300mAh. The internal battery is a 6V NiMH battery which, at best, can hold enough current to charge your phone by a few per cent unless you want to crank the handle all the time. I don't consider this a scam as it only promises a few minutes of entertainment. My Nexus S 4G (1600mAh battery) went from 40% to 47% before the internal battery died. Second, the charging adapter (2.5mm to USB A) is unexpectedly so flimsy that it fell apart on the first try. connect it together. The force required to CAREFULLY insert the adapter into the cable broke the inside of the adapter the FIRST time. If you can securely plug the adapter into the end of the cable that came with it, secure it with tape and make sure that some tension is applied to it. Lucky for me I have a lot of other cables so I just cut it and made my own cable. So it works fine for me, but if you can't do that, don't rely on the loading feature to be useful. I don't see why they didn't just plug the USB-A connector directly into the device like most USB chargers do, it would be less to lose (or break) and probably cheaper for them.
