Obviously looking for a cheaper alternative to all the branded flat pedals in the $85-$160 price range. The main reason I chose this pedal was that it felt like the $120 aluminum pedals. Also, these pedals have 10 pins on each side, 2 of which are inside the pedal, which I think makes a big difference in grip where only those 2 pins are. The pedals feel really awesome at my 12 foot height on super rocky technical trails. I didn't have foot snaps or shin strikes like I've always had with real race-faced Chester pedals (my experience/opinion). pulled away from the pedal. It seems to have cleaned the base of the pedals. I've been riding my RF Chester on the same trails for the past 8 months and only 1 pin was completely cut off from the others which were worn to some extent from scraping rocks and such on the trails. I'll buy cotter pins, swap them out and see how it goes. Pins aside, as I said, these are really good pedals, and for the price plus a second set of stronger pins, they're still a lot cheaper than big brand alternatives.
