Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compact, stylish, responsive watch with lots of great features.

UPDATE 8th July 2021 See review below for details but so far this watch continues to impress! The battery life has been fantastic so far. With all the sensors and tons of alerts from tons of apps, calls, and messages, I do this from about 7am to midnight, and by the time I go to bed the battery is about 50%. The next morning when I wake up, the battery still has about 50%. I charge the watch while getting ready and when I leave it's almost 100% again within an hour. Fiction! And although I wear them all day and all night, they are very comfortable and very light on the wrist. First review: I was looking for a possible alternative to my TicWatch Pro which I have owned for 2 years. Given that both my Pro and my wife's C2 were great smartwatches overall, I definitely stuck with the TicWatch but was looking for something lighter than the Pro and just as full-featured. The E3 hardly feels anything on my wrist, which is good. Don't get me wrong, I love my Pro, but I don't always want to feel the weight of a watch on my wrist. My TicWatch Pro weighs about 58 grams, which is about double the E3, which is about 32 grams. I wasn't too impressed with the screen and is the reason for the 4 star rating at this point. The display is sharp and very easy to read. However, the screen brightness does not adjust automatically, so I have to get used to it. The main downside is the fairly large bezel (around 6mm thick) as it could hide at least part of it in the watch case. It's not as noticeable when the watch is off, but very noticeable otherwise. Even the C2 doesn't have that protruding bezel as most of it has been hidden by the case. The watch strap was all black, thin and light with no pattern. The simplicity of the strap is a definite plus as it stays clean and dirt doesn't collect in the nooks and crannies of the strap, both front and back. The bracelet is also very flexible, almost too flexible for my taste, but definitely comfortable on the wrist. Oxygen monitoring and heart rate monitoring work as expected on demand, but I'd really like to see how it performs with 24/7 automatic monitoring and how that affects battery life. I'm also very interested in the sleep monitoring features, as well as blood oxygen levels and heart rate during sleep. My TicWatch Pro battery rarely lasted more than 18 hours with normal use (mainly notifications and normal watch functions) so it was 20% or less before bed and definitely wouldn't last all night or be useful in the morning. . The E3 is said to have a much more efficient battery, so as the days go on we'll see if it can be useful for next-day sleep monitoring too. As a first night test, I fell asleep with the watch on. with a charge of approx. 60% and approx. 50% in the morning, although all sensors were "always" on. Sleep, wakefulness, REM sleep statistics, heart rate, oxygen and overall sleep efficiency. Both the clock and the phone app provide detailed information. As for the apps that come with it, I don't know if TicHearing is a new option, but it's definitely one of those "nice to have" apps if you're ever wondering how noisy your surroundings are. Pairs perfectly with other tic suite apps like TicZen and TicBreathe when it comes to relaxation and pampering. I briefly tested the microphone using the voice memo feature. It worked really well when it comes to speech intelligibility when you're in a noisy backyard with background noise. The recording heard on my phone via the Mobvoi app was very clear and "full sounding" and not metallic as one might expect. In terms of watch performance, from what I've tested so far, it's very quick to switch between screens and launch apps. , as well as absolutely smooth scrolling and swiping. This definitely shows that this watch is powered by a much faster Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor with twice the memory (1GB). There's also an ample 8GB of storage if you want to download music and leave your phone on while you work out. In terms of water resistance, this watch is rated IP68, but it also says "Pool Swimming," which is very vague. I wish it had more detail than just "pool swimming" like the TicWatch E2 which can reach up to 5ATM. However, since they claim to fully support swimming and also cover it as part of the fitness app's features, I hope you can safely use them while doing laps or casually swimming in the pool without worrying. The watch is new so the options for accessories like glass screen protectors or bumper protectors (cases) are very limited but I'm sure that will change soon. It uses a standard 20mm strap, so there are many options available here. Overall, I'm very impressed with my first experience with the watch and look forward to fully enjoying this watch while swimming, as well as the extended battery life including sleep monitoring. and the possibility of 24-hour health monitoring.
