Review on πŸ“» Sirius Starmate 8 Dock-and-Play Satellite Radio with Vehicle Kit (DISCONTINUED) β€” SST8V1 by Manufacturer by Ryan Hare

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Just a regular radio with a lot of features missing

I have had Sirius Radio for a little over 6 years. My first radio was the Sportster Replay. Although the light went out within the first 2 years and some buttons stopped working after about 3 years, it worked well for most of those 6 years. It had great features. Sports team notifications, 30 presets, favorite song notifications, etc. However, since Sirius took over XM, it has become painfully clear that almost ALL effort has gone into cutting-edge technology for XM. I was shocked to find that this radio was the best thing I could do. It has NO clock, only 10 presets, no sports team alerts, no featured songs. Also, the reception is NEARLY not as good as my old Sportster. During my 50-minute drive to work, I have to change FM stations at least twice to keep reception at a reasonable level. I have no desire to switch to XM. But when my annual subscription expires, I'll have to seriously think about it. if I want to continue being a Sirius subscriber. They don't seem to have done anything on Sirius' side other than increasing the subscription price. I was also unpleasantly surprised to find that I was being charged $15 to switch my subscription to this new radio. The radio I had is dying and I have to pay $15 to have my subscription transferred to the new radio? Well it's a joke.
